"When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project,
all your thoughts break their bonds:
Your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction,
and you find yourself in a new, great and wonderful world.
Dormant forces, faculties and talents become alive, and you discover yourself
to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be."

                   ~Patanjali~

   Transcendence means to go beyond; rise above; exceed; surpass.  The term is used to describe God, Who is above and beyond the universe.  The branch of philosophy, transcendentalism, acknowledges "that reality is essentially mental or spiritual in nature, and that knowledge of it can be attained by intuitive or a priori, rather than empirical, principles." "If you would learn the secret of right relations
look only for the divine in people and things,
and leave the rest to God."

                      ~J. Allen Boone~
                          Kinship with all Life

    The very nature of humanity endows us with limitations placed on us by our physical bodies, environment, and ability to provide for the sustenance of our beings.  Humanity has created for itself certain laws, rules, and conditions by which we are to operate.  These tenets have been brought forth and into common acceptance by those who have created theories based upon empirical, observable, repeatable events.  We have, as a mass society, agreed to give validity only to those things which could be perceived and accounted for by a certain group of senses: sight, sound, taste, touch, and smell.  In abandoning and negating the legitimacy of intuition, psychic ability, and spiritual awareness, we have confined our existence to certain boundaries.  Yet, we all, at one time or another, have pondered the existence of something beyond this world, beyond ourselves.  We have had intuitive or spiritual experiences which others (or ourselves) could easily rationalize away to circumstantial evidence or a momentary lapse of mental instability.  By acknowledging and integrating the "sixth sense" into our readily-accepted doctrine of what is "reality", our whole perception and experience of life transcends-- goes beyond, and becomes closer to God.

"There is no separation between us and God--
we are divine expressions of the creative principle...
there can be no real lack or scarcity;
there is nothing we have to try to achieve or attract;
we contain the potential for everything within us."

                      ~Shakti Gawain~
                            Creative Visualization

  The great philosophers have urged us to look beyond the obvious and trust in the unseen forces which lie beyond.  It is a challenge few have mastered.   It requires the presence of, and abiltiy to exercise, faith.  Believing without a doubt in things which have no scientific rationale can be very difficult in this era of information technology, where countless facts and figures are available at our fingertips.  We tend to accept blindly all those statistics, giving them precedence over our spiritual nature.

"All things are in the act of change;
thou thyself in ceaseless transformation and partial decay,
and the whole universe with thee."

                             ~Marcus Aurelius Antonius~

    Those of us who believe in a Divine Presence, a God, give credence to the notion that He is the Creator of all things.  We believe that before the universe was made, all that existed was God.  Since God is All There Was, does it not stand to reason that all things are created from God?  And, although there are countless life-forms, substances, molecules, atoms, and things unaccounted for as of yet, they are all derived from the Universal Substance which is God.   Therefore, we can deduce that We are God.  God lives in us and through us, yet also exists beyond us.  It is God who provides the energy, the life, within us. We must likewise be aware that our spiritual component is not limited to our physical bodies.  The lifeforce which resides within us does not adhere to the boundaries of flesh and bone.  Our soul is that which gives us presence, vitality, and immortality.  Knowing that there is a vast world, a real reality, beyond ourselves, gives us power.  Owning that belief comes from faith, and faith is in all of us.  All you have to do is believe.

"Come to the edge, he said.
They said: We are afraid.
Come to the edge, he said.
They came.
He pushed them...and they flew."

                      ~Guillaume Apollinaire~
